NORTHERN COUNTIES WHIPPET CLUB Championship Show (Show 1) 14TH April 2024

WHIPPET DOGS –

I was pleased to be asked to judge at Northern Counties which was a well-organized show despite the complexity of running 2 shows  in parallel. Congratulations to the Committee on this.

I would particularly like to thank my Stewards for their excellent work.

As general comments, I would firstly like to say how concerned I am about the shape of heads of many dogs – they should not have long snipey forefaces and resultant lack of underjaw. This appears a serious problem in need of addressing.

Size – while a larger whippet often looks more spectacular in the ring every effort should be made to keep to the breed standard height.

Whatever you may think of the original purpose of Whippets an appropriate standard should be maintained consistent with this.

Having said this, presentation was excellent and all exhibitors should be congratulated on it.
